Everyone has different skin so it’s important to start by deciding which skin type you are: oily, combination, normal or dry. When you know what condition your skin is then you can find products most suited to that skin type.

There are a few products everyone needs which are a staple in creating the routine, such as; a Face Halo, cleanser, serum & moisturiser. An additional product would be a toner or face mist. The order in which you apply those products are important.

I always like to start off by removing my makeup with a face halo pad, it is reusable and only needs to be put in water to remove all types of makeup, even waterproof mascara. Mine have lasted me years and I have three on rotation and put them in the washing machine to clean. This is much more sustainable for the environment than one use makeup wipes and the main benefit is that it works so much better than them too! The material of this product removes make-Up deep in your pores which helps prevent getting spots.

Another way to remove makeup would be with an oil balm which melts into the skin.

The next step is a cleanser. I prefer a creamy cleanser or gel style face wash. These can be more hydrating on my dry/normal skin type as it doesn’t strip the nutrients from the skin so you won’t get that tight feeling as would if using a foam cleanser. However foam cleansers can be more beneficial to those on the more oily side.

If you would prefer this additional step then this is when you would apply your toner using a cotton pad or a face mist. This can balance the PH as well as closing the pores after being opened during the cleansing stage.

A serum would be my next product of choice. It is lightweight and penetrates deep into the skin. A serum will really nourish your skin and create a natural radiance.

Moisturiser is the one product I couldn’t live without! It is the key to keeping your skin hydrated and youthful looking. Every skin type needs to use this. Often people with oily skin don’t realise they need it as they think they are already hydrated but using a moisture helps balance out what your skin needs and will often help stop the overproduction of oils.

This skincare routine can be used for both morning or night, however in the morning I would suggest applying a SPF after your moisturiser to protect from sun damage caused by the UV rays.

The final step is a lip balm or oil to prevent your lips from looking dry and cracked.

So there you have it, if you have all those products then your skincare routine will be mastered!
