The Best Nighttime Skincare Routine for Older Women - Simple Tutorial

Today, I will be showing you my nighttime skincare routine for older skin. It’s so important to make sure you’ve cleaned every scrap of makeup off your face before going to bed every night.

You should take the opportunity to nourish your skin with moisturizer that will sink in overnight and keep your skin feeling soft and healthy.

In this tutorial, I will be using products from the Look Fabulous Foreve r makeup line, but you can replicate the same routine with products that you already have or prefer for your skin.

If you're looking for recommendations for a daytime skincare routine, take a look at my previous tutorial on The Perfect Skincare Routine for Older Skin - 3 Simple Steps.

Tools and materials:

  • Eye makeup remover
  • Cotton pad
  • Cream face cleanser
  • Washcloth
  • Hydrating serum
  • Night cream
  • Eye cream
Removing eye makeup with a cotton pad

1. Remove eye makeup

The first thing I do is remove my eye makeup. I use an eye makeup remover with daisy flower extract and vitamin E. The mixture of oil and water is very gentle on older skin.

Apply face cleanser

2. Apply face cleanser

Next, I apply a face cleanser. I like to use a creamy, emollient cleanser, rather than something astringent and drying. I squeeze a nickel-sized dollop into my palm and apply it all over my face and neck, including my lips.

3. Rinse

I then use a damp washcloth to remove the cleanser, along with the makeup left on my face.

Applying a hydrating serum

4. Apply a hydrating serum

The hydrating serum I use before bed is the same kind I use in the morning before applying my makeup. I use it before bed because it helps my moisturizer work better and last longer, so my skin will stay hydrated the whole night, while I sleep.

To use it, I simply apply a few drops to the back of my hand, and then dip my finger in it, and smooth it all over my face.

Applying a moisturizing night cream

5. Apply night cream

Now it’s time to apply moisturizing night cream. I dab a bit onto my finger and simply smooth it all over my face and down to my neck. This cream is very light in texture and doesn’t feel greasy at all.

6. Apply eye cream

Since the skin around the eyes is extra delicate, and even more so for people with mature skin, I use a special eye cream to give it extra moisture and extra protection against lines and wrinkles. This will also help reduce puffiness and dark circles.

To apply it, I gently pat it into the skin around my eyes, and all the way up to my eyebrows.

Now you are ready to go to sleep and allow all the nourishing vitamins to hydrate and repair the delicate skin of your face while you slumber.
