I love to recycle old stuff and crockery has so much potential to transform into one of a kind lovelies.

Old vintage crockery

I use wheeled tile nippers to cut nice patterned pieces into a shape that might make good earrings. This lovely hold pattern caught my eye and wearing protective eye goggles I snip away at the china.

Snipping china

I do this until I have two equal size pieces which I now need to slightly smooth with a carbide sandstone to get rid of rough edges.

Sanding edges

I recommend a face mask to prevent dust inhalation.

now it’s ready for drilling holes for fixings .

Next a little hole to be drilled into ceramic for ear hooks. I use a diamond tip drill attachment and keep it cool with water. Slowly slowly does it.

Making hole

When both with holes it’s time to fix jump rings in and ear hooks. I prefer to use strong good quality rings and round pliers help to open and close. Also I find that sterling silver ear hooks prevent any ear irritation but of course it’s your choice.

Wow these truly are unique earrings from an up cycle project that really showcase eco jewellery.
