How to Do Joker Makeup Scars: Easy Joker Makeup Tutorial for Halloween
Halloween is approaching, and I have a Joker makeup tutorial for you, inspired by the Joker from The Dark Knight. Follow along to learn how to do Joker makeup scars to look like Heath Ledger's Joker smile, by using just a few household items.
Tools and materials:
- Gelatin
- Water
- Spoon
- Ply tissue
- Concealer
- White paint
- Knife
- Black gel liner
- Red lipstick
- Red lip gloss
- Sponge
- Black eyeshadow
1. Make the Joker smile
To create that signature Joke smile, mix gelatin with hot water, and using a spoon, apply a thin layer from the side of the lips to the top of your ears. Proceed to place a single-ply tissue over it in the shape of a smiling mouth. Do this on both sides.
2. Repeat
Repeat the same process one more time and then apply some more gelatin and water mix to seal it all in place. Once done, wait for the tissue to dry; this does take some time.
3. Apply concealer
Once the tissue is dry, you want to mattify it with powder and also apply lots of concealer over the tissue.
4. Apply foundation
Use white face paint or an extremely fair foundation and apply it all over your face.
5. Cut the tissue
Use a knife or sharp object to carefully cut the tissue to create the smile. Be extra careful while doing this not to cut yourself. Then remove any excess tissue and loosen up the center portion.
6. Apply makeup to the lips
Now for the fun part! Apply black gel liner starting from the lips, all over the slit, and under the fake skin. Then apply blood-red lipstick all over. You can also add some red lip gloss on top to give some texture. Finish off by patting with a sponge to make it look messy and real.
7. Do your eyes
Create a black eye with a black gel liner. Feather out some lines randomly for a smudged effect. Then set with black eyeshadow and tight line your upper and lower lash lines.

rather than risking cutting my face when I cut the tissue apart think I will cut it THEN apply to my face in two sections!
Looks great! I’ve seen people use Elmer’s glue before too, I think it would be easy to wash off, peeling it off might hurt 😬
