Today, I decided to share how I fake big lips. I wouldn’t say I have big lips or small lips, they’re like medium-sized. I really like when they look much bigger than they actually are. However, I'm not a huge fan of a lip filler.

So, I'm going to show you how to make your lips look bigger with makeup. Let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Cream contour
  • Lip pencil
  • Lip tint
  • Lip oil
Contouring the lips

1. Contour the lips

First, we’re going to contour the lips. I’m using a cream contour as it's so much easier to blend and it doesn't leave any powder texture. Be careful not to apply too much.

Contouring helps us to create a shadow above and below our lips which adds some deepness and makes the lips look bigger than they actually are.

Really it is an optical illusion because when we see a shadow, it means that there is something creating this shadow. I also like to put a little bit of contour inside the philtrum.

Overlining lips

2. Overline the lips

The next step is not just to overline your lips and they will instantly look bigger, there's a little technique involved. First, you have to decide what shape you want your lips to be - do you want to lift them, or do you want to widen them?

Remember the bottom lip is always bigger than the upper lip, if you do too much on the upper lip it's going to look a bit weird. If you want a more natural look then make sure that your bottom lip is bigger.

Overlining lips

I personally don't want the natural look. I compared my face with a mask for perfect proportions and I found out that if my upper lip were bigger, my face would look more aesthetic and closer to perfect proportions.

So, I'm not really touching my sides, I'm trying to make my upper lip higher. I used my finger to blend the lip pencil for a nice gradient look.

Overlined lips

You can stop here if you want more of a matte look. I want to make my lips a bit glossy so we're gonna keep going.

Applying lip tint

3. Apply lip tint

The next step is to add a little bit of juiciness to these lips. I’m going to use a tint for lips that has a pinkish color.

This is the Korean lip technique; I'm applying a little bit of tint on the inner part of the lips and blending with my finger. This means that the tint isn’t all over your lips, just a little bit on the inside.

Now my lips look so much more alive. We want this transition from a darker shade on the outside with the lipliner, to the actual shade of our lips and then to a little more pinkish color.

Applying lip oil

4. Apply lip oil

The final step is to apply some lip oil. I tried this with lip gloss, but it didn’t work as well and didn’t deliver the same result, so it does need to be lip oil.

Lip oil looks much fresher and not as heavy and sticky. When you’re applying the oil, also blend all the colors together to get a more natural transition.

This technique for big lips is super easy and only involves four steps.

The most important thing is that it doesn’t hurt at all like a lip filler, and you can get rid of the look any second you want. I’m really happy with the final result, my lips look big, luscious, and juicy.
