Tools and materials:
- Exfoliator
- Tweezers
- Razor
- Moisturizer
- Jade roller
- Spoolie
- Eyelash curler
- Lip balm
- Bobby pins
1. Exfoliator
First, take a shower and then use a gentle exfoliator on your face.
Exfoliating your skin really helps to brighten it and make it look fresh and rejuvenated. I like to exfoliate my skin about twice a week.
2. Pluck eyebrows
Next, clean up your eyebrows. I like to keep my eyebrows fairly natural. I just remove any hairs that grow significantly under or above the main body of my eyebrow.
Remember, it’s better to err on the side of caution as you can always go back and pluck out more, but if you remove too much, it takes a long time to grow back eyebrow hair.
3. Remove facial hair
Aside from eyebrows, I also like to remove my upper lip hair with my safety razor.
To do this, I wet my upper lip with some water. I don't have sensitive skin but, if you do, you might want to use a gentle shaving product for this.
Pull your skin tight and then shave. I definitely feel like this is quicker and less painful than waxing, and I'm personally not a big fan of bleaching so close to the mouth.
4. Moisturize
Next, apply a nice and hydrating moisturizer. My moisturizer contains aloe vera and green tea extracts.
I apply a bit of this on a daily basis after I’ve washed my face.
Moisturizer really helps to perk up the skin a little bit, especially after you have exfoliated.
5. Roll face
After you’ve moisturized, go over your face with a jade roller. A jade roller helps me to de-puff my skin a little bit quicker in the morning - I tend to get really swollen skin when I wake up.
It also feels really nice on the skin. It provides a little bit of a facial massage and helps to stimulate the blood flow a little bit in your face.
In addition, rolling something cool on your dark circles can help to diminish them a little bit or make them less noticeable, as it helps your blood vessels contract and make the discoloration less noticeable.
6. Grooming brows
The next step is some gentle grooming. I like to take a little spoolie and brush my eyebrow hairs into place.
I’m not going to use any product to set them, but I still feel like this provides that little bit of extra polishedness.
7. Eyelash curler
The single step that I feel makes the biggest difference is to curl the eyelashes.
Bring the curler up as close to your lash line as you can.
Curling the eyelashes makes you look so much more fresh, bright and awake.
8. Lip balm
Next, apply some lip balm.
This helps to moisturize the lips, keep them looking nice and healthy and fresh, and it also provides a little bit of shine.
9. Hair
The last thing to do is to gently style your hair. I wouldn’t over-style the hair as super styled hair with no makeup might look a bit out of place.
Gently styling it will look like you put a little bit of effort into your hair, elevate the no-makeup look, and make it look more intentional.
I like to clip back the two front sections of hair, it’s my go-to hairstyle

Excellent article and lots of good ideas.
The one trouble area I have are my eyebrows. I’m blonde and so are my eyebrows which makes them look nonexistent or kind of patchy. Any suggestions to getting more defined brows without micro blading or having them put on permanently. I like the natural look and don’t want anything too severe so that’s the first thing people see when they look at me.
