In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make fleece slipper socks. These DIY fleece slipper socks can be worn with shoes or in place of slippers. Fleece socks will keep your feet warm and cozy during chilly days and nights.

These DIY fleece socks make a great gift for your loved ones. You can also make them for yourself!

Tools and materials:

  • Fleece fabric
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Sewing machine
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Paper or cardboard for the pattern
  • Pen
  • Small bowl

You can repurpose any fleece item you’ve got lying around the house, like a fleece blanket or any fleece garment that doesn't fit you. Fleece fabric is soft and easy to work with. Fleece doesn't fray, so it doesn't need to be hemmed.

Fleece stretches more in one direction than the other. Make sure to apply your pattern to the stretchier side. To make socks for a child, make the leg sections shorter and narrower.

If your fleece has a right and wrong side, pin and sew your pieces with the right sides together.

Drawing the fleece socks sewing pattern

1. Prepare the pattern

Make the sole

Measure your foot size either by using a shoe or your actual foot measurement. Transfer the measurement to the paper or cardboard. Draw a straight line in the center of the measurement.

Tip: Keep the paper pattern so you can make multiple pairs of fleece socks!

At the top where the toes are and the bottom where the heels are, measure 2½ inches (6 cm) from either side of the straight center line.

I’m going to do this to make flip flop socks. I wear flip flops in the house but in the winter my feet get cold. The flip flop socks you buy are really thin and I tried making toe splits in real socks but it made them too tight. These will be warm and I can enlarge the toe section to accommodate the split. Thanks for sharing this pattern.
