Today is hair-day three, and my hair needs some TLC. It's not terrible, but I prefer it to look its best.

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to refresh curls on day two and three, in the morning after sleeping on them. You’ll be able to refresh your curls with no frizz and without washing.

The key here is to maintain volume and body without weighing down your curls with heavy products.

Tools and materials:

  • Wet brush
  • Spray bottle
  • Diffuser
  • Microfiber towel
  • Fine comb
  • Curl refresh and detangle spray
  • Flaxseed gel (watered down, if necessary)
  • Hair conditioner
  • Water
Wetting hair

1. Wet your hair

Start by using a spray bottle to dampen the length of your hair, leaving the roots dry to maintain volume.

You want your hair damp but not dripping wet. Be careful not to oversaturate it. This step helps reform your curls.

Detangling hair

2. Gently detangle

Use a wet brush to detangle your hair gently, as fine hair can break easily.

Be mindful of your hair's fragility during this process.

Applying product

3: Apply products

For today's refresh, I'm using Resource Curls Refresh and Detangle Spray.

I'm only adding a little because I already have some product in there from the previous day.

Spray some of the product into your hand and work it through your hair.

Applying product

Next, apply your flaxseed gel evenly throughout your hair.

Put it into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and work it through your hair.

Fine comb

Use a fine comb to ensure the product is evenly distributed, ensuring your entire head of hair has the same amount of product.

This step is crucial for an even, well-defined finish.

Scrunching hair

4. Shake and scrunch

Shake your hair vigorously in circular and up-and-down motions, scrunching as you go.

The goal is to let your natural curls take shape. No hand curling or finger coiling is needed.

Scrunching hair with towel

Scrunch with a microfiber towel to take out any excess water.

5. Diffuse your hair

Use a diffuser to dry your hair quickly.

You can also let it air dry, but be sure the weather is suitable. A few minutes of diffusing should suffice.

After diffusing, your hair may be poufy, but it will settle down.
