What if I said you can apply your kajal, or eyeliner, and even if you try hard to smudge it, it won't budge?

Applying your kajal, or eyeliner, in your waterline like this looks great immediately after application, but if you have watery eyes, it will start to wash off in the inner corner.

Before you know it, this is what it looks like by the end of the day.

I'm going to show you how to stop eyeliner smudge with these easy eyeliner hacks. Let's get into it.

Tools and materials:

  • Translucent powder
  • Waterproof eye pencil
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Brown eyeshadow
  • Makeup brushes
Setting under eyes

1. Set with a translucent powder

Set around your eyes with any translucent powder. This will set any wet foundation or concealer that can smudge your eyeliner.

By creating dryness around your eyes, the chances of smudging are minimized as there will be no liquids or creams to mix with.

Where to apply eyeliner

2. Use a waterproof eye pencil and avoid moist areas

When applying your eyeliner, avoid the areas that are moist in and around the eyes.

Usually, your waterline is wet towards the inner side and dry closer to your lashes. That's where you'll be applying the eye pencil.

Another area to avoid is the inner corner, where your eyes are the most sensitive.

Eyes tend to water in the inner corner first, so avoid anything that can irritate that area.

Setting waterline

3. Set your waterline

Set your eyeliner with black eyeshadow and an angled brush.

Just like setting your face with powder, setting your lash line will prevent the makeup from moving and it's going to mattify it.

Again, make sure to use the eyeshadow very close to your lashes and not your inner waterline.

Eyeliner

The eyeliner looks darker as it's mattified and sealed. You can stop now or you can double-proof it in the next step.

Smudging brown eyeshadow

4. Smudge brown eyeshadow under your waterline

Lightly smudge brown eyeshadow or bronzer underneath your waterline in the lash line.

This is especially helpful if you live in a humid place, sweat a lot, or have oily skin.

Even if you get smudged eyeliner after the previous steps, it won't flow below the eyeshadow.

Smudging brown eyeshadow

You can smoke it out with a small, definer brush for a softer finish.

I love the way it looks feathered out and soft in the lower lash line as opposed to a harsh black eyeliner.
