Hidden amongst some old vintage crockery and pottery donated to me to transform and up-cycle, were a few gems!

Old crockery

I decide on this piece which I love the butterfly on and think it would make a lovely pendant so get cracking with my wheeled tile nippers carefully cutting it .

Butterfly

I cut the pottery slowly and shape a piece into a heart shape with the cutters. Then it’s time to sand the edges smooth with mini sander. It gradually takes shape and becomes the shape I desire for the pendant. Wearing eye protection glasses important when cutting these items.

Mini sander

I also drill a little hole into the ceramic with a diamond tip drill piece. I use water as a coolant to prevent tip burning and slowly slowly does it. Wear protective eye goggles important safety.

Mini hand drill

Once a hole has been patiently drilled through the ceramic it’s time to attach a silver bail to hold a cord or chain is next to pinch into the hole using round nosed pliers. I squeeze tight to secure it in place.

Bail

Thread the faux suede black cord through the bail and soon it’s ready wear proudly.

Attach cord

I am so pleased with the result. So pretty and unique!
