How to Make Jeans Tighter Without a Belt - DIY Shoelace Hack
Hey, guys! Some people struggle with their jeans being too loose around their waist, and they don’t always have time to go to a tailor shop or even alter their clothes themselves. If you’re one of those people and you want to know how to make jeans tighter without a belt, then this tutorial is for you.
We’re going to show you two different ways to make your jeans fit perfectly around your waist in just a couple of minutes using just shoelaces. We’ve seen these hacks around the internet and have tried them ourselves.
They’re super easy, simple, and most importantly, they’re quick to do. So, let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Shoelace
- Bobby pin
- Scissors
Method 1:
1. Cut a small hole
Open up your jeans and cut a small hole on the inside of the jeans on both sides.
2. Combine shoelace and bobby pin
Insert the shoelace into the bobby pin, tightening it up to make sure it doesn’t come out.
3. Feed the shoelace through the jeans
Feed the bobby pin and shoelace through the hole you made until you reach the other end of the jeans.
When it eventually comes out the other end, pull it out together.
4. Adjust the shoelace to size
When it’s done, put your jeans on and adjust the shoelace, making sure they’re even on both sides.
Now you just need to pull both of the strings together until they’re tight enough and you should see the gap disappear.
Close it up by tying a ribbon and tucking in the visible shoelace.
Now it perfectly fits your waist!
Method 2:
1. Feed shoelace through belt loops
For an easier and quicker way, you’ll only need the shoelace for this. At the back, feed your shoelace through the three belt loops.
2. Cross the ends
Cross both ends through the middle hole.
3. Adjust the shoelace to size
Adjust how tight you want the shoelace, and then close it up by tying a ribbon like this.
This is very easy and hassle-free.

Thought this was absolutely fantastic!!! My daughter needs this so much that I could cry with joy. Seriously, you have no idea how much you have helped us. Thank you for the idea clever lady. She has a very tiny waist. She will be so happy when I show her your idea!! Liked the scarf idea too. Thanks again for sharing as you never know how you will help other people! Blessings!!
I use elastic and pin it inside so it still has some "give" without needing to tie or untie the shoelace.
