Upstyle a Pair of Thrift Store Jeans
I thrifted a pair of jeans and I couldn’t wait to let my creative juices flow and add a bit of glam to the pair. I absolutely love a good upcycle and this one was so easy and simple to do. This refashion project left me with a pair of totally fabulous jeans and the best part is, it was the easiest project to do. If you want to learn how I transformed a simple pair of jeans into a glam denim closet essential, this tutorial is for you. Follow my step-by-step guide and get started on this incredible upcycle.
Tools and materials:
- Lace trim
- Speed Sew/ Sewing machine
To start this amazing thrift flip, I rolled up the bottom of the jeans.
I then used an old swimsuit cover and seam ripped the detailed lace of the sleeves to use for this amazing upcycle.
I wanted to attach the lace so that it would show at the bottom of my jeans. I placed the lace on the bottoms in the right position and marked on the jeans where I would attach the lace detail.
I then tucked the top of the cuff inwards so that my marking was at the top of the fold I had made earlier.
To attach the gorgeous lace to the pair of jeans, I used Speed Sew glue. If you prefer to sew the lace on you can definitely do that! I used a paintbrush to apply the Speed Sew and worked on 1.5/2-inches at a time. After applying glue to each section, I held the lace in place and waited a few minutes for it to set.
Once I had glued all the way around the cuff, I cut the excess lace off. I made sure to close the ends by adding a generous amount of Speed Sew. I then repeated the exact same steps for the other leg. I left the Speed Sew to dry for about 3-4 hours and then washed the jeans inside out.
