How to Make DIY Lace-Up Shorts Without Eyelets in Just 10 Minutes

In this DIY, I’m going to show you how to take a pair of denim jeans and transform them into DIY lace-up shorts using some ribbon. This is a great way to redesign a piece of clothing that you already have and create something new from it! Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Jeans
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Marker
- Pins
- Ribbon
- Lighter
- Sewing machine
1. Cut the jeans
Lay your jeans flat and fold them in half. Then, cut them to the length you would like your shorts to be.
2. Draw a triangle
Fold the jeans so that the side seam is in the center. Then draw a triangle on either side of the seam; the bigger part of the triangle should be on the front section.
3. Pin and cut
Pin the pocket down to prevent it from moving. Cut the triangle out, and when cut, remove the pins. This new shape will create a flattering fit for the shorts.
4. Sew the pocket
Sew the inside of the pocket to close it. Then hand-stitch the outside of the shorts to the side of the pocket.
5. Burn the ribbon
Now we’re going to use ribbon instead of eyelets for lacing up the shorts. Cut two strips of ribbon the length of your shorts and then lightly burn the ends of the ribbon to prevent them from fraying.
6. Sew
Place pins along the ribbon horizontally, leaving a gap each time that is the right size for you to later thread the ribbon through it. Proceed to sew the ribbon at the horizontal points where you’ve pinned.
7. Lace the shorts
Take a piece of ribbon and pin the middle of it. Place this center point in the middle of the shorts at the top. Then start lacing the shorts in a zigzag pattern, leaving one gap each time.
8. Tie a bow
Turn the shorts the right way out and tie up the end of the ribbon in a bow. Then cut off the excess ribbon and burn the ends again. Repeat the whole process on the other side of the shorts, and you’re done!
DIY lace-up shorts tutorial
Here are the finished lace-up shorts, and I can’t get over how cute they are! They’re also quite sexy as well.
This was such a fun DIY to do; it’s very easy and doesn’t take very long. I hope you enjoyed it and you’ll try it out for yourself.

Excelente idea, me encanto ✌️💯👌
With the University just starting classes this week here, your terrific idea is sure to be a game-changer! I can see school colors of ribbon, sororities, etc.! I am sharing to our students — with a single suggestion, tho. Here’s the challenge: What to do with the rest of the cut-off jeans legs/material? Let’s see what everyone comes up with!
