How to Create Earrings From Ceramic Plates

I love to recycle old worn out ceramics that are unloved and to give them a chance to have a new life and loves again is so satisfying.
I begin by cutting the old plate into smaller pieces.
I find using wheeled tile nippers are the easiest way to do this with some control. Make if sure you wear eye protection.
I begin to smooth the sharp edges and make the pieces into a wearable design using a mini hand held sander.
Next it’s tile to drill some holes into the pieces to fix the ear wires into.
It takes time to drill all the way through the china and I find doing it in water is helpful to cool and protect the diamond tip drill piece. Slowly does it and I do it seven seconds in and five seconds rest then drill back in again.
When both holes are drilled its time to piece the earrings together with jump rings and sterling silver ear hooks.
It’s so satisfying putting them together knowing they are handmade and unique like no other earrings!
So happy with results and they go with any look age or style .. vintage or modern!

Such beautiful creativity! I would love to try this project, as I have lots of vintage plates that I have saved for mosaics. Thanks for sharing!
