How to Create Some Unique Dangle Earrings From Nuts!
I’m always on the look out for new unique items to make jewellery out of and came across Tagua Nuts- the vegetable ivory from Amazon ,Equador. I’m so pleased with the quality texture and colours Of these amazing non edible nuts. They are sliced, dyed and Shaped and I love recycling a natural product to support communities there.
You can use any charm bead or earring Stone with a hole in it ready to create earrings with that you like.
I use a small jump ring that fits into the hole easily and close it gently by squeezing with a pair of round nosed pliers. These are easily available and help to shape open and close the earring fixings securely.
I choose some fresh pinks yellows and peach coloured Tagua nut discs that create the colour palette I want. The fun bit is the endless designs and colour ways you can choose from. So play around with combinations until you are happy .
I thread a smaller jump ring in before I close the jump ring firmly with round nosed pliers. Ready to fix onto the sterling silver ear wires.
I like to use sterling silver quality ear wires so they are hypo allergenic and don’t irritate ears.Of course there are many materials and sizes available online to buy. I like sizes that are 22-26 mm
The earwires have a little loop which I open up with pliers just enough to slide in the jump ring and then squeeze tight again to seal the circle
And now a fresh dangle Tagua nut pair of earrings to wear proudly in Just a few minutes !
Enjoyed the project?
