POLYMER ROSE RING TUTORIAL

2 Materials
Easy

When I first started selling jewelry on Etsy I made these polymer rose rings. It took me a long time to practice sculpting them but once I perfected my technique I made them in every color of the rainbow. The jewelry that I make for my online shop has evolved over time and although I don’t sell these rings anymore I still think they are super cute and they are fun to make. Read on to learn how to make your own polymer rose ring.

Supplies

1 package of Fimo or other polymer clay in the color of your choice

1 ring base

Start by taking a small marble sized piece of clay in your hands and rolling it around to warm it up. Once it is very malleable press it into a pedal shape. Roll it up on itself to create the center of the rose.

Make more pedal shaped pieces of clay and press them around the center piece of the rose.

Continue adding pedals until the rose is as large as you would like it.

At this point the base of the ring should look something like this. Take a knife and gently cut the bottom of rose where the excess clay is off.

Place it in a pyrex dish and bake it in the oven according to the directions on the packaging.

Once your flower has cooled you can attach it to the ring base. The bottom of your rose will look like this.

Take another very small piece of clay and press it onto the bottom of the flower. Poke holes in it with a pin. This helps the glue stick better so it is securely attached to the ring base.

Take your ring base and squish it into the bottom of the flower. Now pull it off and put it to the side. This creates a mold of the base so that it can be attached properly after the clay has baked. Put the flower face down into the pyrex dish again and cook it according to the directions on the packaging. Once it has totally cooled take add some superglue to the bottom of the rose and glue to ring base onto the rose. Once it’s dry, you have a pretty rose ring!

Where would you wear this rose ring?
