While I was on vacation, I got asked a lot of questions about how my makeup was lasting all day. So, I’m going to show you guys how to do makeup for a beach vacation. Ideally, you want your makeup to last all day at the beach or pool, as well as into the evening too, without having to reapply.

Let me show you my vacation makeup secrets!

Tools and materials:

  • CC cream
  • Sunscreen
  • Makeup brushes
  • Beauty blender
  • Concealer
  • Setting spray
  • Brow powder
  • Brow wax
  • Eye primer
  • Highlighter
  • Mascara
  • Bronzer
  • Blush
  • Lip liner
  • Chapstick
Mixing CC cream with sunscreen

1. Mix CC cream with sunscreen

One thing I’ve learned is that your face gets really oily, not because of your foundation but because of moisture from your skincare routine. Things like serums and moisturizers all make your skin oily, so skip those.

Instead, mix your CC cream with your sunscreen to balance out the oiliness and apply it. This will give you light coverage that lasts all day and also protects your skin.

I used a brush to spread the mixture and then blended it with a beauty blender.

Applying concealer to the corners of the eyes

2. Apply concealer

For concealer, don’t cover your entire under-eye. For a more natural-looking under-eye, apply only in the corners and then blend in a circular motion.

Setting under-eye makeup with powder

3. Bake/set

This is the most important step when it comes to summer vacation makeup and wanting it to last all day. Take your time and let the powder really absorb into your skin so you get that all-day matte look.

Priming eyes before applying eyeshadow

4. Prime

Priming is an important step to make sure your eyeshadow stays put.

Filling in brows

5. Do your brows

Comb your eyebrows with a spoolie and then use a brow powder to darken. Go darker on the tail and lighter at the front of the eyebrow, following your natural eyebrow line.

Applying stick-based eyeshadow to the lids

6. Apply eyeshadow

For my eyeshadow, I’m using a stick-based product in a nude color. I don’t like to spend so much time on my eyes because I don’t want it to look like I put a lot of makeup on. So, I just spread a bit on and blend it with a brush.

Applying a light eyeliner to the lower lash line

7. Apply mascara and eyeliner

Add mascara to this look, along with a lower lash line highlight using a light-colored eyeliner.

This is perfect for a beach or pool look. Now, I'll show you how I glam it up for the evening:

Adding shimmer to the lid

8. More eyeshadow

To spice it up a little, add a shimmery color to the lid, then mix between light and dark colors in the crease.

Using a dark color under the eyes

Then, use a dark color for the under-eyes to get more of a sultry look.

Applying mascara to curled lashes

9. More mascara

Curl your lashes and apply another layer of mascara.

Applying bronzer with a brush

10. Apply bronzer

For bronzer, I typically start with a matte bronzer and then go over it with a shimmery bronzer using the same brush.

Applying blush with a brush

11. Apply blush

Top off the makeup look with blush.

Lining lips and applying chapstick

12. Line lips and apply chapstick

For my lips, I just line them and apply chapstick or lip balm.

Applying brow wax to the brows

13. Apply brow wax

The very last thing I do is spray a bit of setting spray on my brow wax to get it wet and then apply it with a bristle brush and brush up. It makes a huge difference with your brows.
