Easy Kate Winslet-inspired Makeup Tutorial for Women Over 50
In this makeup tutorial for women over 50, I've been challenged to recreate the look of Bafta winner Kate Winslet.
Follow along as I take you through this makeup tutorial for older women step by step.
The products I'm using today are from the Look Fabulous Forever range, made specifically for mature skin. However, you can achieve the same results with any brand of product.
Tools and materials:
- Moisturizer
- Face primer
- Foundation
- Concealer
- Brow pencil
- Spoolie
- Lip liner
- Eyeshadow
- Lid color
- Eyeliner
- Mascara
- Translucent powder
- Bronzer
- Blush
- Highlighter pen
- Lip gloss
1. Foundation
Start by applying some moisturizer and face primer to your face. Then go in with some foundation to make your skin just as beautiful as Kate’s.
Apply it with your fingers to your skin by dotting it around your face and blending it in.
Applying foundation will give your skin an evenness without hiding the natural radiance that you have underneath.
2. Concealer
Now take some concealer and dot it with your fingers right into the corner of your eyes. If you have dark circles, this helps to hide them.
Also, apply the concealer on any areas where you have fine lines or age spots. We now have a canvas for the rest of our makeup to go on top of.
3. Brows
Now we’re going to define our brows as Kate has quite a pronounced brow.
Take a brow pencil and, following the natural shape of your brows, fill them in. Then use a spoolie to brush that color in.
4. Lip liner
Next, go in with some lip liner to define your lips. Kate went for quite a nude lip look, so we only want to use the lipliner very lightly.
5. Eyeshadow
For eyeshadow, you want to go with a warm brown matte trio.
Pick up the lightest color (which should be a cream shade) with your brush and work it on underneath your eyebrows.
You can also use your finger to blend it in. Proceed to brush the cream into the inside corners of your eyes.
From the middle to the end of your eyes, use the mid-shade of brown.
In the outer corner, use the darkest shade of brown, just sparingly.
Proceed to blend it all in, pushing the makeup into your socket line.
To give the eyes a bit of an evening sheen, we’re going to go in with a bit of lid color.
Dot a little bit of it in the center of your lid just to open it up and add some dimension. Then pat it gently in with your finger.
6. Eyeliner
Now add some definition to your eyes with eyeliner. Apply it to the outer half of your upper and lower lids.
You want it to look very soft without any harsh lines.
7. Mascara
Apply two coats of waterproof mascara.
8. Translucent powder
Give the center panel of your face a brushing with translucent powder just to take the sheen off.
9. Bronzer
Take some bronzer on a blusher brush and go around the outside of your face, as this helps to contour your face.
Blend it right into the hairline.
10. Blush
Add a touch of blush from below the center of the eye outwards to the very top of the cheekbone.
This helps to lift the face. You might also want to check out these Easy Blush Hacks to Look Glowing and Youthful.
11. Highlighter
Now we’re going to add a subtle sheen with a highlighter pen.
Apply it in a ‘C’ shape going from the arch of your eyebrow to underneath the outer corner of your eyes.
You can also add a touch down the center of your nose.
12. Lips
Put some foundation over your lips and then gloss them with some nude lip shine.

Loved it! And you look gorgeous! Where can I find that highlighter pen you used to do a C around the eyes? Thank you for sharing
Looks great, but I also need tips for heavy eyes, I don't have a crease.
