Bonjour everyone. In this video, I share with you how I make my liquid body lotion, using organic products.

This lotion recipe is non-greasy and shea butter based.

Unlike my similar, body butter recipe, this DIY calls for naturally refined shea butter, which gives the lotion a liquid consistency.

Tools and materials:

  • Refined shea butter
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Rosemary essential oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Measuring cup
  • Wooden waxing stick
  • Pipette
  • Funnel
  • 1 c measuring cup
  • Paper towels
  • Blender
  • Spoon
  • Container
Measuring shea butter

1. Measure shea butter

Measure 1 generous cup of refined shea butter.

Add it to your blender with the help of a wooden waxing stick.

Adding grapeseed oil

2. Add grapeseed oil

Next, measure 1 cup of grapeseed oil (or any variety of vegetable oil) and add it to the blender.

Adding vitamin E oil

3. Add vitamin E oil and vegetable glycerin, then blend

Next, measure 2 ounces of vitamin E oil, adding it to the blender.

Adding vegetable glycerin

Also add 2 ounces of vegetable glycerin.

Blending

Close the blender and blend these ingredients until everything is well mixed.

Blending

4. Add essential oils

Next, measure 2 milliliters or lavender and 2 milliliters of rosemary essential oils, adding them to the mixture.

If you don’t have a pipette, 2 milliliters is the equivalent of 2 teaspoons. Then blend everything one last time.

Transferring lotion

This recipe yields about 16 ounces of lotion, so make sure you have an appropriately sized container.

If you use a plastic one, look for a logo that says PE, TE or PET, which means it can handle the essential oils without breaking down. It’s best to use a dark container to prolong the properties of the ingredients.

You can recycle shampoo or liquid soap bottles to use for this DIY, but make sure you remove any residual product, clean the vessel (including the lid or straw) with hot water and kill bacteria by shaking some rubbing alcohol in it.

Transferring lotion

5. Transfer the lotion

Next, use a funnel to transfer the lotion into your container.

Your DIY shea butter lotion is complete. Apply it to your skin and enjoy!
