3 Ways to Use Onion for Gorgeous Hair

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can use an onion on your hair.


We’ll be making an onion peel rinse which is rich in antioxidants, prevents premature graying, and helps to maintain healthy hair and scalp.


After that, we’ll be making some onion juice and an onion mask. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

Peeling onions

Onion peel rinse


1. Peel the onions

Take 1-2 organic onions and wash them thoroughly. Then peel the onions and save the skins.

2. Boil the onion skins

Simmer a handful of onion peels in two cups of water for 10 minutes.

3. Transfer the liquid

Pour the liquid into a spray bottle. 

Onion peel rinse

To apply, spray the liquid onto your hair and scalp after you wash your hair. Leave it on for 5 minutes, and then lightly rinse it off with cool water.


Onion juice

Next up, we’re going to make onion juice. Onion juice contains sulfur to clear dandruff, helps stop hair from falling out, and it promotes hair growth.

Chopping the onions

1. Chop the onions

Take 1-2 onions and chop them into pieces.

2. Blend them

Add one tablespoon of filtered water or coconut oil and blend it into a smooth paste.

3. Squeeze the mixture

Squeeze the pulp using a strainer to drain out the juice.

To apply, massage the juice into your scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash it off.

Last but not least, we’re going to make an onion mask. An onion mask strengthens the hair, deep conditions it, and boosts hair growth.

Combining ingredients for onion mask

1. Combine ingredients

Take one tablespoon of onion paste that you have left over from the onion juice recipe.


And add two tablespoons of hair oil to it. Mix the two ingredients together.

Apply the paste on the scalp and wash it off after 30 minutes.

There we have three different ways that you can use an onion as a hair product. Making all three of these mixtures really utilizes the whole onion and extracts all of the goodness that it within it.
