You’re not alone if you suffer from blackheads and clogged pores. Most of us do!

Fortunately, you don’t need to try a million skincare hacks to find a fix — just one. Let's get into it.

Tools and materials:

  • BHA toner
  • Salicylic acid mask
DON’T: Use extraction tools

1. DON’T: Use extraction tools

Extraction tools can work wonders if they’re used by an expert.

An untrained hand can cause the innocuous-looking tool to damage your skin even further, by scarring and bruising your skin or even breaking capillaries.

An improperly-cleaned extraction tool can also increase your risk of infection.

DO: Use a chemical exfoliating toner

2. DO: Use a chemical exfoliating toner

One great chemical exfoliator is a BHA. The most common one is salicylic acid.

BHAs mimic the natural exfoliation process of younger skin by helping it shed extra layers while unclogging and clearing pores.

You can use a chemical exfoliator just like you would your favorite toner. Apply it to dry skin after cleansing your face.

DO: Use a salicylic acid mask once a week

3. DO: Use a salicylic acid mask once a week

If you don’t want to add an extra step to your skincare routine each evening, you can also try out a salicylic acid mask.

These masks tend to be pretty strong, and you want to use them only once a week for 5-10 minutes according to the label. Any longer and they can damage your skin, so be careful when using them!

When using chemicals this strong, make sure to apply sunscreen every morning and your skin will look fresh and clear in no time!
