Hey, guys! Today, I'm going to show you how I straighten my hair while keeping it voluminous and full of body and movement.

This technique is super easy to do, so let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Argan heat-protecting oil
  • Straightening iron
  • Hairbrush or comb
  • Hair clips or hair ties
Protecting your hair

1. Protect your hair

This step is crucial for protecting your hair from the heat of your straightening iron, and keeping it smooth and silky.

Take just one pump of your heat-protecting oil and rub it between your hands. Then, apply it to the ends of your hair first and work your way up towards the roots.

2. Section your hair

Now, section off your hair. Make sure to divide your hair into smaller sections so you can straighten all of it effectively.

I'm starting with about a one-inch section at the bottom.

3. Straighten your hair with this technique

The technique for straightening your hair is very important.

When you clamp down with the straightener at the root, don't just go straight down. Instead, you want to go up with the straightener into the curl and then under it.

This is how you'll achieve texture and volume. Think of it as flicking your wrist and going straight up, like you're reaching for the ceiling, while keeping a curl at the ends.

If you don't want too much curl, you can keep it a bit straighter, but I personally like the added movement.

Continue with this technique for each small section of your hair.

Towards the bottom, you don't have to be as precise because those sections won't contribute much to the volume. They tend to flatten down due to the weight of the rest of your hair.

However, when you get to the top layers, especially the top layer of your hair, make sure to go straight up and away from your head, curling under as you go.

4. Final touches

After straightening all the sections, go back and touch up any ends that didn't curl properly.

If you have bangs, add a little curl to them to blend them in with the rest of your hair.
