How to Quickly & Easily Crop a Hoodie in 4 Simple Steps

Learn how to crop your hoodie with this cropped hoodie with elastic waist DIY. With a few simple steps, you can completely transform a hoodie and make a whole new piece out of it that you’ll love to wear. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Hoodie
- Scissors
- Elastic
- Pins
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Safety pin
1. Cut the hoodie
Start by cutting the bottom half of the hoodie off, right above the pocket. I advise holding onto the spare fabric as it might always come in use in a future DIY project!
2. Fold the hoodie up
Take some elastic and line it along the bottom of the hoodie. Proceed to fold the fabric upwards to cover the elastic and then pin it down. Do this all the way around the hoodie.
3. Sew down
After that, pull the elastic out, making sure not to move the pins. Using the pins as a guideline, sew along the bottom of the shirt. You can use a sewing machine for this, or if you don’t have access to one, you can do it by hand with a needle and thread.
Make sure to leave a small opening so that you’ll be able to put the elastic through.
4. Insert the elastic
To make pushing the elastic through a little easier, take a safety pin and attach it to one end of the elastic, and then just push it all the way around. You’ll see that it starts to make a ruched waistband which is exactly what we want.
5. Sew the hole closed
Once you’ve done that, sew the opening closed, and you're finished!
How to crop a hoodie tutorial
That is how you can make your own cropped hoodie in four simple steps. I love how the elasticated waistband cinches the hoodie in, it’s really flattering, and obviously, the fact that it’s cropped allows you to show off your flat stomach.
I’m so happy that I made this DIY crop top hoodie, and I hope you’ll give it a go!
