I’m excited to show you guys how to crop your hoodie without losing the hemline.

If you have an old hoodie in need of a refresh or picked up a hoodie at a thrift store and it doesn’t fit quite right, I got you.

This is a simple way to raise the hemline of your hoodie with minimal effort.

Tools and materials:

  • Oversized hoodie
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine or sewing needle and thread
Folding fabric

1. Fold and pin

Start by taking the original hem and folding it up to the spot where you want to crop it.

If you have a pocket on your hoodie you’ll probably want to bring the hem to sit just above that.

Pinning fabric

Take your time, pinning everything in place.

Sewing

2. Sew

Once your seam is pinned neatly in place you’re ready to sew.

Sewing

Keep in mind that the waistband is going to be slimmer so for all your seams to align you might have to tug and stretch out the fabric a bit.

Cutting

3. Cut

After you're done sewing, tuck that excess fabric under and try on the hoodie to make sure it hits right.

If it does, cut that fabric off and you have a new crop sweater for the fall and winter.
