Keep reading this tie dye patterns tutorial to find out what to do - it’s super easy and affordable and I’m sure you’ll love it.

Tools and materials:

  • Clothes
  • Bleach
  • Squeezy bottle
  • Rubber bands
  • Gloves
Adding rubber band to clothing

1. Place rubber band around clothing

Place your item of clothing in the bathtub - I’m going to make a matching sweatsuit - and tie rubber bands around it.

2. Continue

Continue adding rubber bands all over your item of clothing, creating a scrunched-up look like so.

Remember that there is no right and wrong when it comes to tie die so don’t worry about where you place the rubber bands.

Applying bleach

3. Apply bleach

Fill your squeezy bottle up with half bleach, and half water and proceed to squirt it onto your clothing.

4. Repeat

Repeat this process with the second piece of your sweatsuit.

Removing rubber bands

5. Remove rubber bands

Let your sweatsuit sit with the rubber bands on for a bit and then proceed to remove them.

Adding bleach

6. Add more bleach

At this stage, you can add more bleach to your clothing if you like.

Rinsing bleach

7. Rinse off bleach

Next, rinse off the bleach with your showerhead.

Squeezing clothes

8. Squeeze clothes

Once done, squeeze your clothes to get as much of the water and bleach as you can out of them.

Then throw your clothes in the washing machine and dryer - be sure to wash and dry them alone and not with anything else.

I love the contrast of the brown bleached patches against the black background. The splattered design of the bleach looks really amazing and I’m so happy with how this turned out!

This technique was so much cheaper to do than if I had bought a tie dyed sweatsuit from a store. Give it a go for yourself!
