How to Easily Make a DIY Half and Half T-Shirt at Home
Not sure what shirt to wear? Compromise with a half and half shirt! In this tutorial, I'll show you how to easily make a half and half t-shirt.
I love the uniqueness of this t-shirt. I think it's a fantastic upcycle, especially for those who have a bunch of t-shirts and don't wear them on a regular basis.
I went for a half black and white shirt, but you can do any color and print your heart desires. Let's get started with this half and half t-shirt DIY!

Tools and materials:
- 2 T-shirts
- Needle and thread
- Pins
- Ruler or measuring tape
- Scissors
1. Line up the shirts
I went thrift store shopping and found two cool t-shirts to do this project with. You can choose anything you want, but the point is to have two different colors to create this look.
Now that you've decided on two t-shirts, line them up as closely as possible. They will need to be close in size and shape.
2. Measure the t-shirts
Measure and mark the halfway points. Leave 1cm (0.4 inches) for seam allowance.
3. Cut the t-shirts in half
When you're satisfied, cut the t-shirt straight down the middle.
You can do the same with the second shirt; either use the first shirt as a guideline or re-do the measurement. Be sure to put a 1cm (0.4 inches) seam allowance.
4. Match up the t-shirt collars
Be sure to match the collars; these have to be straight. One of my shirts was slightly longer at the bottom, but that didn't bother me. As long as the shirts match up on top of the collar, you're good to go.
5. Pin the t-shirt halves together
Turn the t-shirts inside out and pin them down the middle. When you pin, do not stretch the fabric. Pin the shirts somewhat loosely, right sides together.
6. Sew the half and half shirt
Now, sew the front pieces together. I opted to do this by hand, but you can cut the time by using a sewing machine.
7. Pin and sew the back
Line up the back halves, pin the back right sides together, and sew.

I like it ! What a great idea ! Well done 😍
I'm going to use a 3rd shirt because I want to make the shirt wider and I also want to see how it works. It should be fun.
