The Benefits of ELEMIS Skin Care Routine for Mature Skin

As a woman with dull, mature skin, I couldn’t wait to try three products from ELEMIS.

But I am hesitant to try anything new since my daily routine is nothing special—soap and water, maybe a little moisturizer—and people say my skin looks good.

Even if others can’t see it, I know my skin’s problems—rough, dry, and lacking any glow.

1. Cleansing Balm: Astounding Results

How to use: A hydrating cleansing balm that can be used as a daily cleanser or weekly nourishing facial mask.

The first time I applied this rich, smooth balm to my face, I immediately felt a difference that I did not expect.

Although I initially used a bit more than necessary (all you need is a small, pea-sized dollop), I was astonished by the incredible softness of my skin as I washed it off. Could the collagen in this balm have worked that fast?

I thoroughly enjoyed the lingering scent of this balm as I went to sleep. Infused with a unique blend of nine essential oils, including lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus, not only was my skin left feeling good, I smelled amazing too!

The mineral oil-free formula also includes waxes and proprietary oils that are activated as the balm is massaged into the skin. However, the balm does not leave any traces of oily residue on my skin after washing it off my face. 

Much to my surprise, the intensely ultra-soft feeling of my skin was still there when I woke up and I could not wait to use the balm again.

It is important to note that I have sensitive, fair skin and there was zero negative reaction on my skin using these products.

The only small con I can think of is that my cat did not at first love the slightly citrus notes in the fragrance…but she came around once she was used to it on my skin—after all, she wasn’t used to anything but a generic soap scent.

At first, I was least excited about trying the cleansing balm; I thought it would be as oily as cold cream or as drying as other cleansers, but I could not have been more wrong.

This balm has, hands down, become my favorite skincare product, and day after day, it does not disappoint. 

Though it says to massage a small amount of the cleanser onto dry facial skin and to remove it with a warmed cloth, I used it in the shower, as well, without a cloth and it was just as effective at keeping my skin unbelievably soft and hydrated. 

I also used the balm as a nourishing facial mask. I found directions to massage it in and relax for 10 minutes with a warm, damp cleansing cloth over the skin. Inhaling the delicious scent was amazingly relaxing and my skin was as dewy and soft as when I was in my 20s.

2. Facial Pads: Refreshing and Effective

How to use: Skin-smoothing pads to use every morning and evening after cleansing.

The first product I used was the facial pad. It was refreshing on my face and the fragrance was light and delightful.

Even though I had not worn makeup that day, there was a fair amount of dirt on the woven textured side of the cleansing pad and nothing on the smooth side as I used that for the final sweep on my face.

I was most interested in seeing how this cleanser would affect a few of my dark spots. 

The pads offer patented Tri-Enzyme Technology with lactic acid and probiotic ferment complex. I’m unsure what that meant, but it sounded effective.

I began to scrutinize the dark spots on my face in my magnified mirror to watch for any changes as I used the product. I could swear after the third day of using this product that one of my larger spots was less prominent. 

3. Marine Cream SPF30: Light as a Feather and Long-Lasting

How to use: An anti-wrinkle cream for every morning after cleansing.

I finished off the first night’s routine using a small amount of the Marine Cream SPF30 as a moisturizer (though it is technically a morning product). It’s one of ELEMIS’ classic products, launched in 2003.

It’s as light as a feather and I only needed the tiniest bit—a pea-sized drop--on my finger for full facial coverage. This product will last a very long time.

I have since incorporated it into my morning skincare routine and I love the fact it doubles as sunscreen.

It turns out that “marine” refers to the powerful plant ingredients in the formula, including Padina Pavonica (a brown algae from the Mediterranean coast), Chlorella (a green microalgae), and Ginkgo Biloba (rich in antioxidants), all of which are known to rejuvenate skin.
