I made this lace skirt cover-up in a couple of minutes. It took no sewing, and it cost me less than $1. Want to know how I did it? Check this out!

Tools and materials:

  • Ruffled lace curtain
  • Elastic or ribbon
  • Safety pin
Lace curtain

1. Lace curtain

I thrifted this lace curtain with a ruffled hem.

It’s exactly the length I wanted but, if it had been too long, it would have been easy enough to shorten.

The important thing is that it has a channel at the top for the curtain rod, and this is going to become our waistband.

Ribbon

2. Ribbon or elastic

Cut a piece of lace or elastic long enough to fit comfortably around your waist, with enough left over to tie in a bow.

Safety pin

3. Safety pin

Grab a large safety pin.

Attach it to one end of the elastic or ribbon.

Threading

4. Thread it

Use the safety pin to thread the elastic through the channel for the curtain rod.

Make sure not to pull it all the way through, so you have a free end on each side.

Putting on cover-up

5. Wear it

And that’s it!

Place the skirt around your waist and adjust the gathers if you need to.

Easy DIY cover-up skirt

Tie the ends of the ribbon or elastic in a bow and wear your new skirt with pride. It’s a perfect cover-up for the beach.

Easy DIY cover-up top

It looks awesome as an open-fronted halter top too. What do you think?
