Despite long-lasting promises, it’s common for your makeup to look picture-perfect in the morning but, after a long day, it becomes cakey or even appears cracked.

Whether it’s from wearing a mask for a long period of time, or just tired, dehydrated skin, there are steps you can take to refresh your foundation.

Let me show you how to touch up foundation during the day so you can end it just as you started it.

Tools and materials:

  • Tissue paper
  • Concealer
  • Moisturizer
  • Translucent powder
  • Makeup brushes
  • Beauty blender
Blotting excess oils with tissue paper

1. Blot excess oils

If you have a problem with your foundation wearing off throughout the day, one thing you shouldn’t do is continue to apply more foundation.

Instead, blot the area with a piece of tissue paper to get rid of excess oil. Don’t use blotting papers for this step, as many blotting papers can leave an unwanted powder residue on your face.

Additionally, adding powder and then trying to fix your foundation afterward will just result in a cakey finish.

Moisturizing areas of dry skin

2. Moisturize dry skin

If the area where your makeup is fading is cracking and dry, add a very tiny bit of moisturizer to the area and let it sink in.

3. Use a concealer to fix worn away areas

Rather than going back in with foundation, fix any worn-away areas with a concealer.

For this, you’ll need a proper concealer, one that’s rather thick as opposed to an under-eye concealer, as you’re aiming for coverage.

Use a damp beauty blender to pat it in. Using this technique is a very quick way to fix areas where your foundation has worn off without worrying about having to take all of your makeup off and start fresh.

Setting the refreshed foundation with powder

4. Set

Finally, set your makeup with a translucent powder and a small brush.

All done!
