How to DIY Cute UV Resin Flower Earrings
My mother loves flowers, and for her birthday, I decided to make her resin flower earrings.
These UV resin earrings will use real flowers, and I’ll show you how to make resin earrings in this tutorial.
Important: When it comes to resin, you need to wear a respirator to protect your lungs so make sure to put one on alongside a pair of gloves, and let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Resin
- Tweezers
- UV flashlight/lamp
- Mini drill
- Jump rings
- Earring hooks
1. Pour resin onto the flower
Pour resin on half of a pressed flower.
2. Spread the resin
Spread the resin around so it covers all of the petals you applied it to.
The flower may be delicate and the resin will be heavy, so do this carefully.
Make sure not to get resin on the tweezers you’re holding the flower with, because it will stick and break the flower.
3. Dry resin
Use a UV flashlight to flash dry the resin on the flower.
Flash drying helps eliminate any drips and it quickly hardens the resin so it’s less likely for the petals to fall off.
4. Repeat
Repeat steps 1-3 on the other half of the flower.
Then, flip the flower over, and repeat these steps on the back. You can also switch to your big UV lamp to completely dry both sides much quicker.
5. Apply 1-2 more layers of resin on the backside
Flip the flower to the backside and apply 1-2 more layers on the backside.
Don’t do any more layers on the front side, because it’ll look fake.
You want the sturdiness so it doesn’t break, but you still want it to look like a real flower. Make sure to cure between each layer.
6. Repeat with the other flower
Repeat steps 1-5 on the other flower to make the second earring.
7. Drill a hole in the flower
Use a small drill (manual or electrical) to create a hole in the flower where you want the hook to go.
8. Insert jump rings
Insert a jump ring into the hole you just drilled. You can use pliers to open and close the ring.
Depending on how you want the hook to face, you may need to add another jump ring.
I did, so I went ahead and added more jump rings to the earrings so I had two on each,
9. Add the hook
Add the hook to the final jump ring, and you’re done!
