If you’ve ever watched the TV show ‘Vikings’ you’ll be familiar with the character of ‘The Seer’, the 200-year-old blind being.

In this tutorial. I’m going to show you how to create a Vikings Halloween costume with a The Seer makeup look. Get ready to get a bit gruesome and let’s jump on in.

Tools and materials:

  • Tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Bandage tape
  • Scar wax
  • Eye makeup remover
  • Cotton pad
  • Setting powder
  • Foundation
  • Contour powder
  • Makeup brushes
  • Spatula
  • Bronzer
  • Raggedy scarf
Covering eye

1. Cover your eye

Start by covering your eye. To do this, first lay down a piece of tissue paper to protect the skin around your eye and your eyebrows.

Then cover the entire paper tissue in bandage tape because it is skin colored and it is also going to help make the tissue paper lay flatter on your face. On your other eye, just cover your eyebrow.

Applying scar wax

2. Apply scar wax

Use scar wax to cover the whole area that you just taped down. It's okay if it's a little bit bumpy because The Seer skin has lots of scars around this area.

To apply the wax, lay a piece on your face and then blend out the edges to make it blend as seamlessly into your skin as possible.

Fading out the edges

3. Fade out the edges

Then take a little bit of eye makeup remover on a cotton pad and use this to blend out the edges even more. The makeup remover dissolves the scar wax so that it is easier to fade out the edges.

Powdering the wax

4. Powder the wax

Powder this off with a lot of setting powder to make it less sticky and ready to receive makeup on top.

Applying foundation

5. Apply foundation

When that is done go over with a full coverage foundation to make the wax look a little bit more like your own skin color.

Apply a very thick layer of foundation to make sure everything is covered. Then apply this foundation to the rest of your skin as well.

Wait a couple of seconds for it to dry a little bit before going over it with another very thick layer of powder.

Contouring

6. Contour your face and the scar

Apply a contour powder to your face to make your makeup look a bit more old and chiseled. It may help to look at a picture of The Seer while you’re doing this for reference.

Then, take a stippling brush and that same contour powder and dust it onto the scarred skin part to give it a little bit more of a skin-like texture.

Carving wrinkles

7. Carve wrinkles

With a spatula carve out those giant wrinkles that The Seer has on the less covered eye. After you carve out a wrinkle, go over it with the makeup remover to soften the edges a little bit.

Adding wrinkles

8. Draw on wrinkles

On the rest of your skin, take that contour powder again and draw some wrinkles on, be sure to do underneath the eyes.

Also contour your neck to make it look a lot more thin, wrinkled, and old. Then go over the scarred part with a little bit of bronzer to make it match your natural skin color better.

Coloring lips black

9. Color your lips

Finally, it's time for the signature black lips. Take some black eyeshadow on my finger and apply it all around your lips.

Then all there's left to do is take a ragged old scarf and place it over your head and The Seer look is all done.

I think that the crinkly old skin looks really realistic thanks to the scar wax and makeup that blends it in with my skintone. If you’re a Vikings fan, you have to give this Halloween look a try!
