Easy Accessories: Make Your Own Knot Headband
Knot headbands are the perfect accessory to any outfit and make for a really quick and easy, great hair day! They're also so easy to make that you'll be done in half an hour! Check out my tutorial below and be sure to check out my YouTube channel for more great projects!
Tools and materials:
- Fabric
- Sewing machine
- Elastic
- Pins
- Safety pin
Cut out your fabric
The first step is to measure, mark and cut out your fabric. Using the measurements from the image above cut your fabric into three separate pieces.
Sew the edges
Fold your pieces in half (lengthwise) right sides together. Sew over the open edge. Then, turn the pieces right side out and iron flat for a clean finish. Your biggest piece is piece one, the middle is piece two and the smallest piece is piece three.
Fold pieces three
Fold piece three in half again so that the seam is showing on the outside. Sew the open edges together.
Insert the elastic
Using a safety pin or sewing tool, insert a piece of elastic into piece two. Once the elastic is sticking out of either side, gather the fabric and pin the elastic to the edges. This piece will become the elastic on the bottom of the headband to help adjust fit. Sew the edges closed with the elastic.
Connect pieces one and three
Fold piece one into three; first, fold the top over to the midway point and then fold the bottom over until the edge. Once you have a tube that is roughly the same size and piece three, try and slide piece one through piece three. Make sure piece three ends in the middle of piece one.
Connect pieces one and two
Place piece two on the edge of piece one, right sides together. Then, fold the corners of piece one over onto piece two. Pin to secure. Repeat the same process on the other side and sew the edges closed to connect the two pieces.
Voila! Your DIY knot headband is now ready to be worn. I hope you guys liked this tutorial and liked the headband even more. These are so easy to wear and make and make the perfect accessory to almost any outfit!
