I was scrolling through my Pinterest and saw a couple of 90s makeup inspirational looks. I wanted to recreate these 90s makeup looks with the same gorgeous holographic, colorful, and interstellar feeling.

However, I’m going to update this look to tie in with our modern makeup trends. Let’s jump right into it.

Tools and materials:

  • Eye primer
  • Assorted brushes
  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Assorted metallic eyeshadows
  • Gel liner
  • Matte brown blush
  • Brown lipliner
  • Brown liquid lipstick
Applying primer to eyelids

1. Prime your lids

First, prime your lids. This will help make your eyeshadow more vibrant. Blend the primer with a brush.

2. Style your brows

Onto brows, I’m sure you all remember 90s makeup looks had very thin brows. My eyebrows are thicker, and I’m not about to make them thinner.

However, if yours are this, this look is perfect for that 90s magic look!

Filling in brows with an eyebrow pen

I’m basically filling in my brows with an eyebrow pen. I start at the tail-end and use the spoolie to blend it forward.

3. Apply eyeshadow

As you can see, 90s makeup consists of a lot of sparkle and shine!

Metallic eyeshadow

They used metallic colors all over the lid. So, we will do the same to our eyes using vibrant and dazzling eyeshadow.

Applying eyeshadow with fingers

I’m updating this look by adding a soft metallic sheen. Use your finger to tap on the eyeshadow all over your lid.

Gold champagne-colored eyeshadow

Next, apply a gold champagne-colored eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes. Also, tap it to the middle of your lid.

Applying gel liner to the upper waterline

4. Apply eyeliner

Another 90s makeup signature is doing a pretty thick line. They usually didn’t wing it out. But, what I’ll be doing is tightening my eyes and making a cute wing.

Brown-colored blush

5. Apply blush

I’m personally skipping out on foundation, but if you want more coverage, feel free to apply your foundation now and then apply your blush.

Appy a brown color to the apples of your cheeks, just as they did in the 90s. Sweep it upward.

6. Apply lip color

90s makeup lips were all about the brown lip liner!

Applying brown lip liner to lips

Here, I’m applying brown lip liner to my lips. Take your time with this step. Open your mouth when you get to the corners.

Smudging brown lip liner

Use your fingers to slightly smudge off the line.

Blotting matte brown liquid lipstick onto lips

Now, blot on a matte brown liquid lipstick with your fingers. Add a second layer if needed.
