How to Easily Make a Cute DIY Leather Belt Out of Leather Cord
In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make a leather belt. When deciding how to make a belt, I came across this silver hook thing that’s mostly used for bracelets, and I thought it would be really cool to use it as a belt.
This DIY leather belt is the perfect accessory for both pants and dresses and is shockingly easy to make. Let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Hook closure with slider piece
- Leather cord
- Measuring tape
- Glue
- Scissors
1. Measure the length of your waist
Wrap the measuring tape twice around your waist so that the ends meet in the front. This will give you the measurement for the length of the cord.
2. Cut the leather cord
Cut the leather cord to the size you measured in the previous step.
3. Wrap the cord around your waist
Fold the cord in half and then wrap it around your waist just to make sure it’s the right size or to see if it needs any adjustment.
4. Place the closure slider onto the leather cord
Next, I’m going to show you how to make a belt buckle. Start by taking the extra piece that comes with the hook closure and sliding it on both ends of the leather cord.
Then, slide this piece all the way to the end of the cord so it creates this small, tight loop.
5. Attach the hook closure
Add glue to the hook closure, then attach the glued side to both ends of the leather cord.
Let it dry and the belt is ready to use. Just hook the loop around the closure and use the extra piece to tighten the loop so it doesn’t fall out.
