I’m going to a Beyonce show with my bestie and her outfit is the Heated theme.

So I made this copy of Beyonce’s flame hat for her. It took me 6 hours from start to finish and it’s so worth it!

Best cowboy hat!

Tools and materials:

  • Black cowgirl hat
  • Chalk fabric marker
  • Acrylic paint
  • Liquid Fusion craft glue
  • Wax pencil
  • 2mm and 6mm resin rhinestones
Drawing design

1. Draw the design

I got this black cowgirl hat from Amazon and removed the ties.

I used a chalk marker to draw the flame design. I did mine freehand but you can find templates for this online if you need to.

Paints

2. Paint the flames

I used three colors of acrylic paint to give a good solid base for the rhinestones.

Painting flames

I painted the top a light gray, put a light blue below it and added a darker royal blue at the base of the design.

Leave the paint to dry.

Rhinestones

3. Gather the materials

I bought 3 colors of rhinestones in two different sizes, 2mm and 6mm. These are resin rhinestones so they’re cheaper and also not as heavy as the glass ones.

If you’re only using one color, you can get away with just two packs of these.

Liquid Fusion glue

I used my favorite craft glue, which is a heavy duty one, to make sure the rhinestones stayed in place.

Wax pencil

A wax pencil makes it a lot easier to place the rhinestones exactly where you want them.

Adding rhinestones

4. Glue the rhinestones

Lay a line of glue at the bottom of the hat and work upwards.

Adding rhinestones

I added the rhinestones in a scattered pattern, to match Beyonce’s hat as best I could.

Adding rhinestones

I completed the dark blue layer, then added the light blue and finally the clear rhinestones.

When I take it outside, you can really see how much it sparkles. I think it’s going to look awesome in the stadium lights!
