A Beautiful and Conservative Way to Turn a Silk Scarf Into a Blouse

I’ve seen lots of ideas for wearing a scarf blouse top, but most of them aren’t suitable if you dress conservatively.

If you don’t like to show a lot of skin, I’ll show you a way to tie a scarf and make a top that looks beautiful but still maintains your modesty.

Tools and materials:

  • Thin long-sleeved top
  • Large silk square scarf
  • Brooch or pin
Wearing a top

1. Wear a top

A thin, long-sleeved top works best with this style. It could be a fine turtleneck rib knit or a round neck t-shirt, for example, but it needs to be fairly close fitting.

2. Fold your scarf

Use a scarf that matches or tones with your top. Fold the scarf diagonally.

Hold one of the shorter sides behind your waist and wrap it around you.

Tie the ends together at the side of your waist, allowing the rest of the scarf to hang down.

3. Over the shoulder

Lift the other shorter side of the scarf up and over your chest.

Then take the point of the scarf up behind your neck and over your shoulder, on the same side as you tied the scarf.

4. Pin

Use a pretty brooch or pin to hold the scarf in place.

Now you have a glamorous, elegant silk top that will look wonderful with pants or a skirt but which doesn’t expose any of your skin.
