3 Elegant Ways to Style a Large Silk Scarf
In this tutorial you will learn how to wear a large silk scarf, 3 different ways.
For all 3 styles, you will start by folding the scarf like an accordion. So grab your favorite silk scarf (53” x 53”) and let’s begin!
Tools and materials:
- 1 silk scarf (53” x 53”)
- 2 scrunchies
Accordion style
1. Fold
Begin by folding your large silk scarf with the accordion fold. You can fold it in the air, like me, but it might be easier to fold on a flat surface.
2. Secure ends
Then secure each end with a scrunchie (which you will remove at the end).
3. Wrap and pull
Place the scarf around your neck, even on both sides, cross the ends and pull one end through the loop.
Then, continue pulling to make one end much shorter than the other.
4. Wrap the longer end
Now, take the longer end and wrap it again, leaving a loop in front of your throat.
Remove the scrunchies, and voila! Here’s your first scarf tying technique. So elegant!
Chunky knot style
1. Tie a knot
After folding the according base and securing both ends with a scrunchie, wrap the scarf around your neck and tie a knot on one side, toward the bottom.
2. Pull the end through
Feed the second end through the knot, leaving a loop hanging out, and then remove the scrunchies.

Side fan style
1. Wrap and tie a double knot
This scarf tying technique is the easiest! After folding, simply wrap your scarf around your neck, then tie a knot.
Next, you’ll tie the second knot, leaving one end much shorter.
Pull the short end to the shoulder near to it and that’s it!
