The Easy Way to Get Bouncy Curls Without Using Heat
Hey, guys! Today, we’re going to be testing out a viral heatless hair hack to get bouncy curls that I just had to try. It looks so stinking cool!
Let’s go ahead and get started.
Tools and materials:
- Leggings
- 2 hair ties
- Hair oil
- Brush
1. Part your hair
Part your hair down the middle and brush it through. I like my hair to be a smidge damp, so I wet my brush really quickly before doing this.
2. Apply oil
Always go in with oil. Everyone asks me how my hair is so shiny, smooth, and frizz-free. It’s because every single night I oil or sludge my hair. The one I’m using has no silicones in it and it smells nice. Just run it through your hair from the midpoint down so everything is nice and hydrated.
3. Place your leggings on your head
The main tool in our heatless curl set is going to be a pair of leggings. Take your leggings and put them over your head like this.
4. Section your hair
Now, split your hair into two sections. I tied one section away for a minute so it wasn’t in my face.
5. Cross hair from each section over and under the leggings
Each leg of the leggings is going to act as a DIY heatless curling ribbon. To start, grab a section of hair on each side. Take the front section and cross it over and then under the leggings. You want to always be holding onto the front strand.
Repeat with the back section, crossing it over and then under the leggings. Make sure that same section ends up back in your hands.
Do the front section again, but this time add in some hair right next to it before crossing it over and under.
Keep doing this all the way down, adding hair to each new section. I like to try to have all of my hair added in by the time I reach the bottom of my ear.
When you run out of hair, just keep crossing the hair over and under the leggings. It’s the same repetitive motion, you’re just not adding in any hair. When I do this, a lot of people think I’m doing a three-strand braid, but I’m not. I’m never fully crossing the strands and I’m hanging on to the same strand the whole time. When you do a three-strand braid, you’re crossing and switching the strands, but that’s not what I’m doing.
6. Tie off
Once you get to the bottom, tie it off with a hair tie.
7. Repeat
Repeat with the other side.
8. Tie the strands at the top of your head
Take both twisted strands and wrap them around the back of your head, crossing them over each other.
Then, bring them up and tie them together.
9. Pull down the leggings
Open up the top part of the leggings and pull them down over your head. This creates a nightcap that protects your hair while sleeping. If you’re someone that rolls everywhere at night and tosses and turns, this is going to help protect your hair so you don’t have to worry about wearing a scarf or anything else.
As you can see, my hair is all tucked in and it isn’t going anywhere. Now, you can sleep!
10. Take your hair down
Once you wake up in the morning, you can remove the leggings and take your hair down.
11. Brush the curls
I like to use my fingers to just brush through my curls, but I also use a brush as well.
You want to lightly brush it. Don’t overbrush, because you don’t want to loosen the bouncy curls too much.
The easy way to get bouncy curls without using heat tutorial
Here’s the finished look! They look so good. I love heatless curls because I don’t have to do anything and I’m good to go and ready for the day. This method cuts my get-ready routine in half; it’s so amazing and creates gorgeous curls, so I highly recommend this method.
