Do you want to find your signature style? Everyone does. In this guide, I’m going to be sharing with you five pointers that are crucial when it comes to achieving your dream style so that you can look and feel fabulous.
1. Hair and skin care
The first tip doesn’t have to do with clothing at all, but it is about our hair and skincare. When we don't have our hair looking neat and our skin healthy and nourished, it can really mess up our overall appearance.
In turn, you can find it harder to put a nice outfit together when you aren’t happy with the way that you look. To accomplish our dream style, we need to start from the bottom up and take good care of our hair and skin.
2. Know what your dream style is
We are all different and therefore have different style preferences. Some people might like clothing that is edgier, and others prefer things that are more minimal.
There are so many fashion styles out there. I personally want my clothing to look sleek and elegant; in summer I like to go for a romantic style while in winter I tend to wear a lot of black pieces. It is so important to know ourselves and what we like to wear.
That being said, a person can like wearing clothes in more than one type of style; you don’t have to put yourself in a box and restrict yourself to only certain pieces; if you enjoy wearing pink, that doesn’t mean that every item of clothing you wear has to be pink.
The main thing here is not to follow the fashion trends but follow what you like. Also, bear in mind the type of clothing that you wear for work as this is part of the clothing in your wardrobe.
3. Find your inspiration
Once you’ve discovered your personal style, you’re still going to need to know where you can pick up style inspiration for those days when you’re not sure what to wear.
I find Pinterest a great way to get inspired, and on Pinterest, you might be surprised to hear that I draw inspiration from everything.
It doesn’t just have to be from clothing; I pick up ideas from interior design as well; I like seeing different tones paired with one another, and I have a particular preference for pastel and off-white hues.
4. Know what makes you feel good
My next tip is to be ruthless, and what I mean by this is don’t settle for less. Here we are trying to accomplish our dream style, so that means we want only what is best for us. You only want clothing that suits your body shape and nothing else. If you find a pair of tailored pants that fit your body shape, go ahead and get them.
I also recommend even buying the same pants in multiple colorways because once you find pants that look perfect on you, that is what you’re going to want to wear on repeat. It doesn’t have to be pants, though; it could be a sweater or a skirt.
Once you find a design that looks like it was made for you, you want to capitalize on it as much as possible, as it will help you present yourself in the best way you can.
On the flip side, if you’re wearing an outfit and you don’t love how it looks on you, you won't feel happy and confident within yourself. Remember as well that different women have different body types, so something might look great on your friend and not suit you at all or vice versa; don’t worry, different things will work for different people.
So remember, don’t settle for less, because you want to look your best.
5. Don't follow any rules
There are so many things out there that influence our fashion choices and tell us what’s hot at the moment and what’s trendy - whether they be celebrities or magazines or anything else. But don’t let all of these messages we’re receiving about what to wear drive you crazy; you don’t have to like the exact same pieces that other people are wearing.
I personally think having a capsule wardrobe is beneficial, but I don’t like to put a number on how many pieces are in my capsule wardrobe. As I mentioned before, your style also doesn’t have to be set in stone. I enjoy trying out new styles that I haven’t worn before to see whether they suit me.
How to find your signature style
I hope that you’ve found this style guide helpful. When your wardrobe is filled with your dream pieces, you will feel happy and confident in your clothes. Remember to always be mindful about the clothes that you’re buying and don’t make any rash decisions.

Dream pieces are not in most budgets. But I can sew. Not quilts. garments, alterations. The more snug the pants leg, the bigger the butt looks. A long, flowing tunic doesn't hide the imbalance. Mid thigh hems optically cut your leg in half, as do dark shoes with bare legs. White blouse with black pants seems to put my waist in my armpits. As one ages, the spine compacts and changes everything. It's important to temper an unflattering color with it's opposite in the color wheel. I dislike most women's garments with pockets too short or narrow to hold anything.
