AW21 Styling a Cardigan Dress

As promised, here’s another one of my key pieces for this Autumn/ Winter; the classic cardigan dress.

A longline cardigan dress like this never goes out of style and has all the charm and luxe elements of high end fashion, without the price tag.

This Chanel style cardigan is from River Island and was recently bought for £65. Considering the amount of looks you can create, I think this is a great price point for an enduring item but you could definitely look for pre-loved or vintage items like this too.

For my first look, I’ve worn the cardigan dress as a dress in the most simple form. I’ve paired with some plain black Next shoe boots, but knee boots would look equally as nice.

The detailing on the dress is really enough that you could just chuck it on and look instantly chic.

I have accessorised with a black Michael Kors bag, it would be a dream with an original Chanel 2.55, maybe one day...

In my next look, I’m wearing the dress open as a longline cardigan for a pared down, school run chic look.

I’m wearing white Levis 501’s and a plain white Zara bodysuit. I’ve paired with some plain black Calvin Klein pumps for the inevitable errands of the day.

A little scarf would really elevate this look and stave off the autumn chill.

This is another casual look, this time a bit more sports luxe.

I’m wearing a pair of Zara textured joggers with the same bodysuit as before, but think this look could really be elevated with some leather (or even better; faux leather!) bottoms.

On my feet are Nike Blazers and I have an oversized white Michael Kors bag. This would be a great look for a bit of a casual lunch or shopping.

In my next look, I’m upping the chic with the addition of some Layered pearl jewellery. A mixture of pieces from Astrid & Miyu and J Crew

I’m wearing a faux leather French Connection skirt in a blush pink and my Mulberry Lily bag in soft pink too. I love the contrasting textures of wool and leather, which breaks up the outfit.

I’m wearing trainers again, but have lightened up with white here, a court or a heel would look lovely too.

In my last look, I’ve popped a Little Black Dress underneath the open cardigan.

This one is an oldie from Warehouse, and comes out all the time for so many occasions. I’ve added a bit of shape with my Gucci Marmont belt, and the same chunky necklace mix as before.

I wanted more of a contemporary twist, so have on a cute pair of Isabel Marant shoe boots for a more edgy feel.

On a cold day, I might chuck a faux-fur coat over my shoulders for the ultimate luxury look. If I really wanted to dress up I would pop some pearl or diamanté clips in my hair for some old school glamour.

There are so many ways to style this fabulous cardigan. I’d love to hear more suggestions and ideas!
