How to Style White Shoes for Summer
White shoes, they just scream out to wear in the spring and summer and yet, I find myself having a hard time finding pairs I like and how to match them with outfits. There’s something about white on certain styles of shoes that can make them look cheap, so it’s taken me a while to acquire a few pairs that I like.
Then I had to figure out how to wear them. It’s not as simple as it seems. While a nude-tone shoe goes with everything and is the go-to when you don’t have a colored shoe to match your outfit. White is a different story. You need to wear something white for white shoes to look right.
Also, check your white. If your shoes are bright white, it’s best to pair them with clothing that is also bright white. If your outfit features off-white or cream, the brightness of your bright white shoes may overpower the look.

Classic black and white
The classic sharp contrast look of black and white will always be chic. For this outfit, I have some white pumps with a bit of black trim. I teamed them with a flowy black swing skirt and button-down blouse for a fun look with a little bit of stylish formality to wear on evenings out or work events.
Monochrome
I bought a pair of white ankle booties to wear in the spring when the weather is still cold, but I really want to start wearing lighter spring colors and dark shoes just look too heavy. I styled them here with a monochrome look of a bright white shift dress that matched the bright white of the boots. Going all-white is a classic summertime look!
Prints and Accessories
When wearing prints or patterns, I found white shoes work best when you have a little bit of white in your outfit. Pair white shoes with prints such as florals, polka dots or plaids that have a bit of white in the mix. Alternatively, if there’s no white in your clothing, try adding a white accessory such as a scarf, hat, belt or purse to tie the look together.
