In this style guide, I will show you how I styled one top in six ways. The top that I’m wearing I actually designed myself! It is chocolate brown and has some text detailing in bright yellow. Styling a piece of clothing in multiple ways really allows you to get the most wear out of it. You can dress it up or dress it down and create a more minimalist or maximalist look, depending on the mood you want to create and the occasion you want to wear it for.

How to style a t-shirt

Leopard print

To start off, I styled this t-shirt with leopard print pants because I think that they add some fun detail. On my feet, I’m wearing metallic sneakers because they’re really cool and add a different color and texture to the look. This outfit is definitely a maximalist one as there is a lot going on, yet all of the elements complement one another, creating a look that is more than the sum of its parts.

Easy t-shirt style

White wonder

I went for lighter pants for the next outfit because I wanted to create a stark contrast between the top and the bottoms. I’ve thrown a leather jacket over the top, or should I say I’ve “effortlessly draped it over my shoulders” ;) To add some more dimension to this look, I went with a little brown bag and leopard print mules that mix some more brown shades into the outfit.

Styling a t-shirt

Leather lady

In this look, I’ve dressed up the casual t-shirt with a leather skirt. I added a blazer and some heeled mules, which create an office-ready outfit. A cute bag with some gold metal studs finishes off the look, and the studs coordinate nicely with the yellow next to the top. Compared to the other outfits in this lookbook, this one is more minimal and is a great example of a stylish outfit with a narrower color palette.

Basic t-shirt style

Shaggy chic

For this outfit, I again went with leather, this time brown leather pants. I love playing with different tones, and I really like how the dark brown of the top pairs with the medium brown of the pants. The centerpiece of this outfit is the shaggy beige jacket that I’m wearing. It makes such a statement; it’s almost like a piece of art. I also love the movement that it has to it.

Easy t-shirt style

Denim chill

Next up is this super easy and chill outfit. I’ve thrown on a pair of oversized jeans and have again added a pop of color with leopard print shoes. An easy outfit doesn’t have to mean a boring one, and to add some interest, I’ve knotted the t-shirt at the front, which makes it tighter and adds some definition to my waist. A few gold necklaces add the finishing touch to this look - understated yet stylish.

Khaki joggers

Last but not least, I’m wearing a pair of khaki joggers, which match really well with the words on the t-shirt. For an interesting addition, I added a pair of heeled sandals. The heel adds a dressier vibe, but this look is still toned down and wearable for every day. I also really like the color that the denim shacket adds which keeps the outfit looking fun and fresh.

And we’ve reached the end of the lookbook. I hope that you can draw some inspiration from the looks that I’ve put together. Styling one top in multiple ways helps you to get the most out of your wardrobe. It also allows you to be creative - mixing and matching different pieces together and considering what colors, textures, and patterns to pair with one another.
