Lovely vintage crockery makes for some unique jewellery. I learnt how to upcycle these gorgeous crockery items many years ago and love to keep transforming discarded items into one of a kind keepsakes. I’d like to share these skills with you too.

Cut up crockery pieces

I use wheeled tile nippers to shape. I always like wear eye protection goggles too for safety.

I find these lovely cream and green pieces of vintage crockery plate and I shape them into rectangles.

I drill holes into the china using a diamond tip drill attachment and keep tip cool with some water dipping.

Drilling hole

Once both have a hole, I sand the edges smooth and shape them nicely with a sander carbide stone attachment wheel.

Round nosed pliers are so helpful to feed the jump rings and attach the sterling silver ear hooks.

Feeding the hooks onto jump rings and pinch tight to secure. I prefer to use sterling silver ear hooks too to prevent irritation.

Feeding jump ring through hole

I repeat the process on the other earring so that they pair are matching and complete. These truly are super vintage crockery earrings that are so lightweight to wear!
