Watch Me Turn This Huge Blazer Into a Stylish Crop
Here’s an easy way to upcycle an old oversized blazer into a stylish crop jacket.
I started with a blazer that was bought at a thrift shop for a costume, so this upcycle cost me very little.
It will cost you nothing at all if you have an oversized blazer taking up space in your closet!
Best fabric scissors!
Tools and materials:
- Old oversized blazer
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Grommet tool
- Oversized decorative safety pin
1. Cut your blazer
Put on your oversized blazer and mark where you want the bottom of the crop to be. Mine was just about the bottom of the lapel.
Remove any buttons above the crop line, and draw a straight line across the blazer where you want to cut.
Lay your blazer flat and cut straight across the line, going through all layers of fabric.
2. Finish the hem
Overstitch the raw hem and then turn up and hem the bottom of your crop.
3. Make a grommet closure
Mark where you want to place grommets, on either side of the lapel.
Use a grommet tool to punch in and close your grommets.
Use an oversized decorative safety pin through the grommets to close your crop.
