In this tutorial, I will show you how to DIY a bentonite clay mask. Also known as an Indian Aztec clay mask, the main ingredient has a myriad of benefits for the skin. Follow along for three different types of Indian clay masks.

Tools and materials:

  • Indian healing clay
  • Wild turmeric
  • Raw apple cider vinegar
  • Raw honey
  • Wooden bowl
  • Face brush
  • Neem spoon
  • Spray bottle
  • Measuring spoons
  • Washcloth
Benefits of Indian healing clay

1. Apple cider vinegar and Indian healing clay mask

1. Measure Indian healing clay

Measure 2 tablespoons of Indian healing clay into your wooden bowl. Do not use metal bowls or spoons with the clay.

2. Pour in apple cider vinegar

Next, mix in 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into the same bowl along with 1 tbsp of filtered water. The vinegar must be diluted, otherwise it will be too harsh on the skin.

The clay is basic, so the acidic vinegar balances the PH of the skin.

However, if you have sensitive skin, then skip apple cider vinegar. If using only water to make the mask, use a good toner to balance the PH level of the skin.

3. Apply

Apply the mixture to your face, taking care to avoid the eye area. Let it dry for 5-10 minutes.

4. Rinse and restore moisture

Once completely dry, rinse the mask off and apply moisturizer or face oil.

I recommend using 99% pure aloe vera gel, rosehip oil or squalane after you use the mask. Also, use sunscreen every single day.

6. Remove and rehydrate

Remove gently with a wet washcloth. Then apply a good moisturizer or aloe vera.

Additional notes: The masks will leave your skin red for hours so do this in the evening. Do not overdo the mask, use it only once a week or once every 10 days. If you experience breakouts after using the mask, this is called skin purging and it’s normal when using a powerful mask.

3. Clay body spray (to treat back and body acne)

1. Measure Indian healing clay

Start by measuring 1 tablespoon of Indian clay into a glass.
