If you’ve seen the new Cruella movie with Emma Stone, you’ll know that her makeup was absolutely amazing. It was done so professionally, and it meant that she really looked the part. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can achieve that Cruella De Vil makeup using your own makeup.

  • Matte eyeshadow in black and white
  • Eyeliner
  • False eyelashes
  • Tweezers
  • Mascara
  • Liquid eyeliner

  • Lip pencil
  • Lipstick
  • Sculpting powder
  • Cruella wig
Creating a base for the Cruella de Vil makeup

1. Prep your face

Start by prepping your face with a vitamin-enriched face base that will hydrate your face. As we’re not using face paint, but we’re using actual makeup, you want to prep the skin as you would when you regularly wear makeup.

You now want to prime it with a skin primer which will help to blur the appearance of fine lines and paws. Then go in with foundation; you want to choose quite a light color to get Emma Stone’s look. Layer it over your skin and also take it down the neck.

Lastly, apply some setting powder to take any shine off of your face.

2. Color your brows

For your brows, take a matte palette, mix a black and brown shade together, and follow your natural eyebrow shape. You want to sharpen your brows a little bit at the very front and also extend the tail.

Applying black eyeshadow below the brow

3. Add black eyeshadow

Bring down some matte black eyeshadow onto the bridge of the nose. Use a soft blending brush to create a bit of a v-shape. The widest part comes off of the brow, and then it gets thinner as it goes down to the bridge of the nose.

Use a blending brush with a little bit of foundation on it to soften the eyeshadow as you blend it.

4. Add white eyeshadow

Go in with some white matte eyeshadow, and on a flat shader brush, take it over the mobile lid and slightly higher than the natural crease. Also, apply some to the brow bone.

Line eyes with black eyeliner

5. Apply eyeliner

Add some eyeliner along your waterline and also tightline with it.

6. Build up the black eyeshadow

Going back to the matte black eyeshadow, use a small brush and start building up the outer edge of your eye. Take it along the inner corner of the eye and make it look a bit smudgy.

Use the tip of the brush to make a wing on the outer edge and bring it up perpendicular to the highest point that you’ve created. Then, slowly bring the color forward towards the inner corner of the eye, which will blend into the ridge of the nose and the brow.

You want to soften the black line you’ve made, but you don’t want to completely blend it out; otherwise, you’ll lose that definition. Next, take the black eyeshadow underneath your lower lashes but only on the outer half, and keep it really close to the root of the eyelashes.

Applying mascara to false eyelashes

7. Add some false eyelashes

Apply some false eyelashes, then apply some mascara over the top to give them a bit more of a punk feel, where it’s a bit more undone and smudgy. Go in with a very light amount of mascara on the bottom lashes.

8. Draw the beauty mark

The next step is to draw Cruella’s distinctive beauty mark with some liquid eyeliner. The beauty mark is on the same side as the black hair.

9. Color the lips

With a lip liner in cherry color, line your lips following your natural lip line. The cupid's bow should be extremely sharp. Proceed to fill them in with a cherry lip pencil. Always make sure your lip pencil is super sharp when you’re drawing defined lips.

Over the pencil, apply some lipstick with a matte finish to amp up the color.

Lighting contouring with sculpting powder

10. Define the cheeks

Cruella didn’t have a ton of contour or anything like that to the face; it was just softly defined. Use a very small amount of sculpting powder, just through the hollow of the cheeks, to add a little bit of shape. Take the powder around your jaw as well for a little bit of added definition.

11. Put the wig on

Lastly, it’s time to put the wig on. You want to make sure that it doesn’t cover the eyebrows, so if you need to give it a little bit of a snip, go ahead.
