Today, I'm going to show you how to create a double Dutch braid bun.

The hairstyle looks gorgeous, and best of all, you can even do it when you have layered hair. Let me show you what to do!

Tools and materials:

  • Hairbrush
  • Hair tie
  • Bobby pins
Parting hair

1. Part hair

Start by parting your hair - you can make a center parting or a side parting.

Then, part your hair in the middle down the back and tie one side out of the way.

2. Braid hair

Start the Dutch braid with a small section in the front, then continue it down your hair, adding more hair to each section as you go.

Don’t braid too close to your middle or side part.

3. Continue

Continue braiding all the way down to the bottom, incorporating all of your hair on that side.

Don’t worry if you have layered hair, which causes a bit of hair to poke out; we will be using a lot of bobby pins to make it look good.

Tie off the ends of the hair.

4. Braid other side

Now, repeat on the other side.

Folding ends under

5. Fold ends under

Take one of the braids, fold the ends under - creating a loop, and then lay the braid flat on the head.

Bobby pin it in place. If you have a lot of layers and bits of hair that stick out, use as many bobby pins as you need.

Adding bobby pins

6. Repeat

Proceed to tuck the ends under on the other side.

Then lay the braid down flat on your head. You can either place it above the first braid or below it. Pin it down.

Also, pin down any hair that escapes from the braid and sticks out.

Pulling on hair

7. Pull on hair

Take the strands of the braid and gently fan them out.
