Scarf Tutorial to Make a Dress for Your Next Wedding
Do you have a wedding or other fancy event coming up, but just can’t find the perfect dress?
Follow this tutorial for the simplest, most inexpensive solution, and make your own dress from a giant scarf or sheet!
Tools and materials:
- Scarf or sheet
- Jar lid
- Hair elastic
1. Wrap and tie
Wrap your giant scarf or sheet around your body under your arms and then tie the open corners over one shoulder.
2. Make a side knot
Wrap the back of the scarf around your front to the opposite side.
Grab a straight-sided jar lid.
Wrap the lid inside the wrapped fabric at the position you want a side knot, so that the lid is on the inside of your scarf dress.
Then, secure the lid inside the fabric with a hair elastic.
Once the wrapped lid is on the inside of the dress, the outside only shows a clever knot, but no bulge.
DIY scarf dress
Ta-da! That’s all there was to it! Depending on the size of your scarf or sheet, this can be a floor-length, midi or cocktail-length dress!
The side knot looks glamorous.
And the draping back is so beautiful.
So, now you can forget the stores, look in your closets or a thrift store for the perfect scarf or sheet, and have your one-of-a-kind custom dress in minutes!
