Easy Halloween Jack O' Lantern Makeup Tutorial
Today’s easy Halloween makeup tutorial is going to be Jack O’ Lantern face makeup! This is something super simple that you can recreate at home. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Primer
- Foundation
- Concealer
- Setting powder
- Eyeshadow
- Mascara
- False lashes
- Lipstick
- Eye pencil
1. Apply primer
Start by laying down a base of primer on your face. I’m using a mattifying one.
2. Apply foundation
Go over the primer with the foundation that you always use.
3. Apply concealer
Use a little bit of concealer underneath your eyes to cover up any dark circles. Make sure everything is blended in nicely.
4. Set
Set by powdering everything off with a loose powder.
5. Draw the outline of the triangle
Now, let’s get started with the look. Take light pink eyeshadow and draw a line underneath your lower lash line. This is going to be the lower part of the triangle that we’re going to make later. This light color is just to outline the shape.
Finish outlining the entire triangle which will create Jack O’ Lantern’s eye. The top of the triangle should be just above the middle of your eyebrow.
6. Outline the eye with orange
Use a darker orange color to go over those pink lines, but this time make the line a little bit thinner, so the lighter pink color functions as a transition color, and it all blends out nicely.
7. Apply orange eyeshadow to your nose
Also, take that same orange color to your nose where we’re going to carve it out later.
8. Apply black eyeshadow
Take a bit of black eyeshadow and pat it all over your eyelids from the lash line to your eyebrow.
Fill in the rest of the triangle with black but make it a lot smaller than where the orange is, so there’s still enough room to blend it while maintaining that orange edge out of the outside of the triangle.
Apply multiple layers of black and bring it underneath your eye as well.
9. Blend
Take a clean blush and blend out the edges to achieve a bit of a smokey effect.
You can then take a little bit more black eyeshadow and blend it out somewhere until you get a beautiful smokey effect where the black transitions into the orange on all sides.
10. Draw the outline of the lower part of your head
Using the pink eyeshadow, draw a line on your cheek to create the puffy bits in the middle of the pumpkin, and make sure they align with the lines that are going up from the eye triangles.
11. Outline the lower part with orange
Just as with the eyes, use that darker orange color to go over the pink and ensure the orange line is smaller and in line with the pink.
12. Add black eyeshadow
Go over the orange with a tiny amount of black eye shadow to deepen it up and make it look like a shadow and it’s hollow in there.
Also, apply it around the outside of your face.
13. Apply orange eyeshadow
Apply orange eyeshadow everywhere on the lower part of your face and along your jawline. Go over it with black eyeshadow to deepen it as in the previous steps.
14. Carve out the nose
Create a small triangle on the tip of your nose using a black eyeliner pencil. I’m going to keep mine quite small, but you can make yours larger if you like.
Color it in with the eye pencil first, and then go over it with black eyeshadow to make it opaque and matte.
15. Conceal your lips
Apply a bit of concealer to the edges of your lips.
16. Draw the mouth shape
Use a black eyeliner pencil to draw the mouth shape. Just draw out the typical kind of Jack O’ Lantern shape which is very squared where the teeth are.
Add a little smile on the outside edge for a bit of extra creepiness.
17. Apply black lipstick
Fill in the entire mouth shape with black lipstick. You can use the stick where possible and use a small brush in the difficult areas for more precision. Go in with a second layer if you need to.
18. Line your lash lines
Use an eyeliner pencil to line your lash lines so everything is nice and black.
19. Apply falsies
Put on some false eyelashes. I chose a full, thickened pair for this look.
20. Apply mascara
Apply mascara to your lower lashes.
21. Apply black eyeshadow to your lips
Pat some black eyeshadow over your lips to make the color long-lasting and mattified.
