In this tutorial, I’m going to show you a hairstyle inspired by Emily in Paris.

If you’ve always wanted Emily in Paris hair, this is just what you’ve been looking for. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Hair tie
  • Straighteners
  • Hairbrush
  • Faux hair scrunchie
Tying up front of hair

1. Tie up front of hair

Section off the top part of your hair and tie it up as if you were tying a high ponytail.

You don’t want to bring all of the hair through, though, only pull it halfway through so that it creates a bun.

Then, spread out the hair over your forehead so that it looks like bangs.

Straightening bangs

2. Straighten the bangs

Proceed to straighten the bangs to make them nice and smooth.

Backcombing hair

3. Backcomb hair

Next, backcomb the rest of your hair to give it more volume and make it look a little bit messy.

Wrapping bun

4. Wrap the bun

Wrap the section of backcombed hair around the bun to conceal it.

Adding hair scrunchie

5. Add a hair scrunchie

Finally, place a faux hair scrunchie in the same color as your hair around the bun.

This will blend in with the hair that is already there and add even more volume.

Here is the finished Emily in Paris updo. Even though the technique is a little odd, I really like the finished result.
